Children's picture book writing and sports writings will be the featured topics in this class on a series in a writing course by instructor Jim Holden.
Patrick "Packy" Mader has written four intergenerational children's picture books (typically 32 pages in length) which feature rural Minnesota settings and have positive messages. He is also the author of two 400-page nonfiction sports books on Minnesota athletes who competed in international championships and the Olympics. He will be addressing both topics using a Power Point slide show and as part of a panel discussion.
Learn about the importance of choosing subjects which capture the attention of young readers and concise writing for children's picture books. Then shift gears to understand effective interviewing and research on sports matters.
Books will be available for purchase. Thank you for considering to attend!
Three of Packy's children's picture books; Olympian Henry Boucha (hockey) holds a copy of Packy's book, Minnesota Gold.
