Rochester Olympians Highlighted in Minnesota Gold Presentation
Author Patrick "Packy" Mader is delighted to be invited to share his passion for Minnesota sports, history, and geography with the residents of the Rochester area. His book, Minnesota Gold, features the stories, lives, challenges, perseverance, and achievements of 57 Minnesota athletes who competed on the world stage--primarily the Olympics. Two Rochester athlethes are highlighted in his book: Mark Lutz, a sprinter in the 1976 Olympics, and Jim Johannson, a two-time member of the men's Olympic hockey teams (1988 and 1992). Other athletes from the southern Minnesota cities of Austin and Albert Lea will also be featured. Packy is currently working on a second volume which will include Rochester swimmer Sean Quackenbush and Winona runner Garrett Heath who competed in international competitions.
Also included in the presentation are athletes from every part of the state! Come learn about these remarkable athletes and how they have contributed to their sport and communities.
Jim Johannson was a member of the 1988 and 1992 Olympic men's hockey team; Packy demonstrates his passion for speaking about Minnesota Olympians; Mark Lutz, a sprinter who won every race he competed in his junior and senior years at Rochester Mayo, was a 1976 Olympian.
