Author Patrick "Packy" Mader is excited to come to Club Prior in Prior Lake to share information about Minnesota athletes and their successes in the Olympics--especially after 11 athletes won gold medals in 2018.
The Olympic multimedia Power Point presentations will feature 57 of Minnesota's most remarkable athletes in his recently published book Minnesota Gold who have competed on the world stage and highlight their stories, lives, challenges, perseverance, and achievements. Among the athletes profiled are Lindsay Whalen of Hutchinson, now a star professional basketball player and new head coach of the University of Minnesota women's basketball team, who was a member of gold medal-winning Olympic teams in 2012 and 2016 and led the team in scoring in the gold medal game.
Athletes from the southern metropolitan area will be highlighted and include a variety of eras and sports. The 2018 Winter Games gold medalist Jessie Diggins, the first American woman to ever medal in Olympic cross country skiing history, is one of the athletes featured in Minnesota Gold, Packy's full-color 400-page nonfiction book with 250 photographs where he interviewed more than 50 Olympians in person.
All of Packy's books are inspirational and have positive messages. They have lessons about sportsmanship and citizenship, two highly valued qualities in a person of any age.
