Fun Minnesota Stories on Farms and Olympians To Be Shared at St. Joseph School
As part of I Love to Read Month combined with a belated Catholic Schools Week, author Patrick "Packy" Mader is delighted to be invited to St. Joseph School in Waconia, Minnesota. Packy will also share his four children's picture books that celebrate rural life and traditions (based on a farm near St. Boni) with positive messages as well as his nonfiction book about Minnesota Olympians and their lives, challenges, and achievements.
Agriculture education is a component of Packy's engaging and entertaining presentation to primary grades. He brings an authentic milking machine, large storyboards, and a big cow marionette as props. For the intermediate grades, a multimedia presentation with video clips, pictures of athletes in competition and how they look today, are shown in a Power Point slide program. His book, Minnesota Gold, highlights 57 state athletes from a variety of sports and eras. It includes current University of Minnesota women's basketball head coach Lindsay Whalen from Hutchinson, a member of two gold medal-winning Olympic teams, and runners from Minnetonka. He will also be discussing his second volume whihc profiles an alpine skier from Buffalo whose family moved to Mound and two high school students striving to make the 2020 Olympic Games!
Throughout his presentations, Packy encourages students to have dreams and do their best as citizens, students, and athletes.
Packy presenting with large storyboards; Lindsay Whalen from Hutchinson; Tasha Nelson from Buffalo, later moved to Mound, a 1998 and 2002 Olympian in slalom skiing.
