Children’s Book Written by Patrick “Packy” Mader Wins National Book Award Patrick Mader’s delightful tale that begins on a family farm, then rolls through neighboring towns, nearby states, and finally all across the United States has won a national book award. Big Brother Has Wheels received a Bronze Medal at the 2010 Independent Publisher Book Awards in New York City on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, in the category of Children’s Picture Books (All Ages). ABOUT THE INDEPENDENT PUBLISHER BOOK AWARDS The "IPPY" Awards, launched in 1996, are designed to bring increased recognition to the deserving but often unsung titles published by independent authors and publishers. Established as the first awards program open exclusively to independents, over 2,000 "IPPYs" have been awarded to authors and publishers around the world. Only about 5% of the approximately 500 children’s books nominated received IPPY awards. Packy believes that Andrew Holmquist’s creative and vibrant illustrations, the outstanding layout design by Ryan Scheife of Mayfly Design, and Kellie Hultgren’s astute editing are primary contributions for the success of the nomination. |
